Just Be Still

Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10

It is hard to be still. I am not talking about physical stillness, although that is a struggle all it’s own especially as a single mom and a person with responsibilities. Being physically still is a luxury that often, I don’t have time to experience.

Be still and KNOW that I am God.

Reading Psalm 46:10 with the emphasis on knowledge, brings the Scripture to its intended meaning. Being still before the Lord and KNOWING He is God, is trusting Him in the moments when our human emotions and thoughts try to take us to places contrary to His promises.

Be STILL and KNOW that I am God. Boy I sure could have used this reminder yesterday. I let my mind run away and allowed fear and worry to cloud my judgement and force out the peace that the Lord has brought into my life. I allowed the whispers of the devil to build a nest in my thoughts and then went so far as to gather the straw to strengthen this breeding ground of sin.

With some help from the man God has brought into my life, we took down the nest and cleaned up the mess left behind. It takes a strong man to lovingly hold the hand of a woman who is skittish in the moment.

Even when what is in front of you seems scary or uncertain, the Lord gives us the promise that He is God and when we are living in accordance to His commands, we can be confident that He has got this!

Be still and know that I am God. Such a simple sentence filled with hope and promise.
