Last night my dreams were filled with sadness, hopelessness, and regret. I saw what I would become if I let go of hope.

What is Hope?

It is many things to many people, and like so many things, it is different in different times in our lives.
As children, we hope for the shiny new toy or for a trip to Disney World. As young adults, our hopes become a little more mature, perhaps a hope in a new home, or in a relationship. Each year that passes can bring a new hope and a new desire. Hope is what drives us, without hope we will find ourselves floundering in the abyss.

Life is not an easy ride. There are many ups and downs we encounter along the way, sometimes they are small hiccups in the road, and sometimes they are setbacks that give us the push to forge ahead and continue toward our dreams. Sometimes they knock us flat on our backs and we don’t have the strength to stand. And we lose hope.

The loss of hope is very different than a hope unachieved. I cannot lose hope, for in losing hope I will lose myself again and I can’t fall back into the dark emptiness that was my life without hope.

My HOPE is in the Lord.
