Active listening is not a strength for many people. In fact, the skill of listening is often completely lacking.
I think it’s fun to sit in the restaurant and watch the people around me interact with one another during the meal. There’s always that one table with the couple sitting staring off, each lost in their own thoughts not really speaking to one another.
Then there are the groups where, either one is fully dominating the table talk, or everyone is talking at the same time.
We’ve all been there and I am sure I could give many other examples, but the point is, with all the talking going on, who is listening?
Have you ever listened to God? I mean really listened with no agenda, no words coming out of your mouth or occupying your thoughts? Have you ever just sat still and listened? What an experience!
Scripture tells us repeatedly to hear God’s voice, to be still to seek God’s voice. Yet how often do we take the time to heed his words what a comfort to know that God is listening to me when I pray.
he says in Jeremiah 33:3 call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things that you do not know
He reveals His desire to have a conversation with us, we can hear his voice if we are also listening
